If you have made it this far in the hydroponic gardening game, then may be it is time you go and check out a grow store. There are quite a few great hydroponics grow stores in and around Memphis which make it easy to ask questions and look at the newest equipment.
Some of the aspects that make a grow store great are:
- Knowledgeable staff
- Great customer service
- Good selection of hydroponics supplies
- Friendly yet professional atmosphere
Knowledgeable staff. Any good grow store is full of employees that know what they are talking about. Luckily for us, there are quite a few stores in Memphis tha
t have just that. I have been to multiple stores where the staff know about not only the latest technologies, but also the best practices, and ways to maximize your harvest when dealing with indoor gardens.
Beware of the overly salesman types. These guys only want to make a quick buck, and will try to push products on you instead o
f educating you first and letting you decide. For me, a good knowledgeable staff member can make the difference in whether I buy something or not.
Great customer service. Another main deciding factor in choosing a grow shop is the level of customer service. If you have to feel like you need to do something outrageous to get any attention, then something is wrong. Even if a store is super busy, sometimes a quick "I'll be right with you" can make the difference between whether I stay in a shop or not.
Face it, we have a lot of choices on where to buy our hydroponics from. We all want to be treated as if we are important, and some grow stores just don't seem to get that. If a store owner or employee treats me as though I am important and not just another walking dollar sign, I will keep coming back to that grow shop for years to come.
Good selection of hydroponics supplies. Hydroponics is a booming market, especially in cities where it is legal to grow medical marijuana. Because of that reason, many new stores have been popping up as of late. Unfortunately, all hydroponics stores are not created equal. I have been to stores right here in Memphis that only have one or two products, and are constantly out of stock.
If a grow store doesn't have what you need, then you will go somewhere else. If on the other hand a store has a great selection of hydro supplies and indoor hydroponic systems, you will be able to see some of them in action and get a better idea of whether or not it is right for you.
Friendly/Professional atmosphere. This may be a personal pet peeve of mine, but I really hate it when I go into a grow store and it's super disorganized. I've been to a few grow shops in Memphis that had dirt everywhere, and just piles of stuff all over the place with little or no organization. I left more confused then when I came in.
Other stores are staffed with folks that are just plain rude. For me, that is an instant signal for me to turn around and go somewhere else. I would rather drive 20 miles to a store that is clean and friendly then deal with a junk pile around the corner.
Price. This is the last reason that I choose a specific grow store. In this day and age of the Internet and smart phones, where you can check everything online to make sure that you are getting the best deal, it makes it hard on stores to make a profit. Especially when competing with online stores that don't have as much overhead.
So I usually have a little bit of leeway when price is concerned. In fact if I really like the place, I will pay more for an item just to support local business, but sometimes the prices that some of these places charge are ridiculous.
If I feel like the price is too high I will kindly mention about the price on the Internet, and see if we can come to some kind of a deal. If that doesn't work, and I some of the other factors mentioned are not there, then I might just choose another store to shop at.
Going to grow stores in Memphis can be a fun and learning experience. Given the knowledge, expertise, selection, and price that most of these stores have. You can find it to be quite a good experience to visit a few before choosing the one (or more) that are best for your needs.
